New handCASE type R with full recessed top

ROLEC have extended the handCASE range of enclosures with four new models which now have a full format top recess for membrane keypads or product labels. These high performance IP 66 aluminium enclosures have been designed for hand held electronics which are used in harsh indoor or outdoor environments.

Typical applications will include test and measurement equipment, machine and robot controllers, detection equipment, and data logging units.

These enclosures are manufactured from diecast aluminium GD AL Si 12, are very robust, and offer a high degree of EMC shielding. This can be especially useful for mobile RF equipment. Each ‘handCASE’ consists of three separate diecastings: top, base and battery compartment lid, plus two moulded TPE sealing gaskets and four screw gaskets. The cases are assembled by four stainless steel screws.

There are now two versions available: type ‘S’ which has a ‘T’ shaped top recess and is painted black and silver, and type ‘R’ which has a full format top recess for membrane keypads or product labels and is painted light grey, RAL 7035. As a result, the range now consists of eight individual versions with external dimensions of 180 x 80 x 42 mm, 220 x 100 x 42 mm or 220 x 100 x 62 mm. The two smaller sizes are supplied with an integral battery compartment for four 1.5V AA cells or two 9V cells.

The top sections on all models can be machined for display modules, keypads and push-button switches. The base can be machined for connectors, switches and cable glands. The largest case is deep enough to fit standard control switches.
