ROLEC has launched IP 69K versions of three of its most popular diecast aluminium enclosures for electronics equipment: aluCASE, aluDISC and aluCLIC. The move has been prompted by increased demand from companies designing and manufacturing equipment for food processing, pharmaceutical and agricultural applications.
Equipment used in food, pharma and farming must be able to withstand frequent washing down using high pressure, high temperature cleaners.
ROLEC’s aluCASE, aluDISC and aluCLIC metal enclosures have previously been available with IP 67 protection. Now they can be specified with an IP 69K rating on demand.
IP 67 enclosures must be able to withstand immersion in one metre of water for 30 minutes.
IP 69K electronic enclosures must be capable of withstanding 80°C water at a pressure of 80–100 bar and a flow rate of 14-16 litres/minute. The spray nozzle is held 10 to 15 cm from the box at angles of 0, 30, 60 and 90 degrees for 30 seconds each. The test device sits on a turntable that rotates once every 12 seconds.
The aluCASE, aluDISC and aluCLIC ranges are three of ROLEC’s most versatile enclosures for industry:
ROLEC housings for electronics are distributed in the UK by OKW Enclosures of Fareham, Hampshire.
OKW Sales and Marketing Director Robert Cox said: “Food processing in particular is an incredibly punishing environment for electronics.
“You really need the very best sealed enclosures, ones that are capable of withstanding high temperature jet washing several times a day.
“IP69K is the best protection rating to specify for harsh conditions such as this – making your robust ROLEC enclosures even tougher,” he added.
ROLEC also produces ranges of IP 66 and IP 65 boxes to suit a broad spectrum of industrial electronics applications. And although ROLEC is synonymous with metal housings, the company also designs and manufactures ranges of glass reinforced polyester and plastic enclosures.
